The shift from Windows XP to Windows 7 in 2014 cost the global industry billions of dollars because upgrading the ATM operating system also meant upgrading the hardware. Banks are about to encounter the very same issue again when they must upgrade to Windows 10. Break free from the OEM upgrade cycle with new software solutions!

Burroughs, North America’s largest independent service & integration provider for payment and transaction technology ecosystems and KAL, a world-leading ATM software provider are partnering to provide customers with hardware-agnostic software solutions as an alternative to existing OEM-centric options and compliance-driven upgrades.

The first product being brought to market will be Kalignite Hypervisor. This game-changing solution allows financial institutions to break free from costly and disruptive ATM hardware and software upgrades required for compliance by decoupling the hardware motherboard from the operating system so that software drivers that are unsupported under Windows 10 can be supported by the Hypervisor software instead.

Hypervisor technology removes the need to upgrade current hardware when ATMs move to Windows 10, protecting the investments made by 20,000 banks worldwide. Not only is this technology important when migrating to Windows 10, but it will also become essential when managing future Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) software releases under Windows 10 which could require even more frequent hardware upgrades.
